“While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is My body.’” (Matthew 26:26) The night before Jesus was crucified He ate His last supper with His disciples. Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples; he agreed to betray Jesus. Yet Jesus still ate the last supper even with Judas Iscariot. Do you have someone in your life who is causing you trouble? You can still pray for them.
Jesus took bread, and “when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” When we take communion, we honour and remember the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus took on Himself the sins of the world — and He paid the penalty for your sins and mine. He gave His body and His blood for you and for me. How great is the love of God! Jesus ate the last supper knowing that His time had come. He did not hold back from the cross, but He gave Himself to the will of God His Father to be crucified. To the end, He loved His disciples — and He loves you and me. If you can be a part of a local church, we encourage you to go and to take communion in remembrance of the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us all.
